The cause of death for Anne Heche has been determined to be an accident, according to the medical examiner.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-office Coroner's has determined Anne Heche's cause and manner of death.

According to the office's website, the actress died as a result of "inhalation and thermal injuries" and that her death was an accident.

According to the office, Heche also suffered a sternal fracture as a result of blunt trauma, but this was not attributed as a cause of death.

Heche died nine days after being rescued from a burning car and taken to a hospital in critical condition following a crash in Los Angeles.
