Everything you need to know about the typhoid fever
Typhoid fever is a life-threatening disease that results from infection with the bacterium
Salmonella typhi.
It is spread by contaminated food, water and poor sanitation.
Symptoms :
increasing temperature, headaches, fatigue, a cough, constipation, and general aches.
Acc. to WHO, there are some 11–20 million cases of typhoid fever each year — leading to approx.161,000 deaths.
Mary Mallon(1869 - 1938) is often referred as typhoid Mary.
She was the first healthy living carrier of the disease.
She infected hundreds of people with the infection over several years where as she remained healthy.
Typhoid is mostly treated with few a weeks of antibiotics.
