Everything you need to know about the Monkey pox virus 

 Monkey pox virus causes the monkey pox disease.It is a zoonotic disease.

Symptoms:fever, intense headache, muscle aches, back pain, low energy, swollen lymph nodes and a skin rash or lesions.

 Monkeypox can spread to people when they come into physical contact with an infected animal or person. 

The incubation period is one to two weeks 

Anyone in close physical contact with someone who has symptoms or with an infected animal are at highest risk

People who were vaccinated against smallpox are likely to have some protection against monkeypox infection  

 Monkeypox symptoms often resolve on their own without the need for treatment. 

An antiviral that was developed to treat smallpox ,tecovirimat (TPOXX) was  approved for the treatment of monkeypox
